TEKNOSEAL 1271-01 is a one-component wash primer based on reactive binders, intended for chemical pretreatment of steel, zinc, and aluminium surfaces exposed to weathering, particularly in cases where mechanical surface preparation is not possible.
The coating improves adhesion of subsequent layers to the metal substrate and isolates the paint film from the reactive metal and its corrosion products. It is suitable for overcoating with one- and two-component water-borne and solvent-borne paints, as well as with powder coatings, providing a coating system with very good adhesion and resistance to dry heat up to 180 °C, while being free from chromates.

Surface preparation
Remove from the surfaces any contaminants that might be detrimental to surface preparation and application. Remove also water-soluble salts by using appropriate methods.
The place and time of the preparation are to be chosen so that the prepared surface will not get dirty or damp before the subsequent treatment.

Application

Apply a coating that is as even and thin as possible. The paint can be thinned without restrictions in order to achieve a thin film. When painting under a powder coating the maximal allowed film thickness is 10μm, and then the paint is to be thinned by 30 - 50%.
Application conditions
The surface to be treated must be dry. During the application and drying period the temperature of the ambient air, the surface and the product shall be above +5°C and the relative air humidity below 80%. Additionally, the temperature of the surface to be treated and the product must be at least +3°C above the dew point of the ambient air.
Storage
The storage stability is shown on the label. Store in a cool place and in tightly closed containers.
