HYDRO WAX is suitable for roller and trowell application on parquet and wooden floors in public spaces and homes. Forms a natural surface with good abrasion resistance. Good UV-light resistance, does not yellow. Product meets the requirements of toy safety standard EN 71-3:2019 for limit values for migration of chemical elements.

Surface preparation

The wooden surface must be dry, carefully sanded and cleaned from dust and other impurities.

Application

Untreated and clean-sanded surfaces: Fill the gaps with GAP parquet putty. Sand puttied surface (grit 100 - 120) and clean before applying the product. Apply 3 coats of HYDRO WAX along the grain of the wood. Intersand properly with grit 150 between second and third layer. Ensure even spreading with every layer. Previously lacquered parquet and wooden floors: Clean the floor thoroughly. Intersand properly by using sandpaper or an abrasive net n:o 120–150. Remove the sanding dust with a vacuum cleaner and finish with a damp, lint-free cloth. Apply one coat with a stainless steel trowel and after that 1–2 coats with a roller or trowel. In unclear situations, conduct preliminary tests to ensure proper adhesion to the substrate. Note! If the floor has previously been treated with oil, urethane or alkyd lacquer, the floor must be sanded to bare wood before lacquering. Repairing a surface: To restore a floor treated with HYDRO WAX, first remove the scuffs and gaps by sanding the area gently with sandpaper grit 150. Then, apply HYDRO WAX to the restricted area along the grain of the wood. Ensure that the previous lacquer coat has fully dried before applying a new one. Always stir lacquer thoroughly before use. Some rubber types in carpets and anti-slip materials may contain plasticisers that can cause permanent surface and colour damage to the lacquer and oil coat.

Application conditions

The surface to be treated must be dry. The moisture content of the wood should be 7 ±2 % by weight. The temperature of the air, the surface and the lacquer shall be above +18 - 25°C and the relative humidity of the air 35 - 65% during the time of application and drying.

Maintenance

The varnished surface reaches its final hardness and washability within 2 weeks. Rough handling and washing is to be avoided during this period. Stained surfaces can be cleaned with a moist cleaning cloth or mop. Use a neutral detergent. Very dirty surfaces can later be cleaned with a slightly alkaline universal washing detergent.
