Varnish for wooden surfaces

HELO AQUA 5 is a water-borne, full-matt varnish that enhances the natural look of wood. Contains UV protection. For wooden surfaces indoors and outdoors.

Use: Wooden doors, windows and furniture indoors and outdoors. Wooden plank floors, stairs, walls, and ceilings indoors. Product meets the requirements of toy safety standard EN 71-3:2019 for limit values for migration of chemical elements.

Surface preparation

The wooden surface must be dry, carefully sanded and cleaned from dust and other impurities.

Application

Stir thoroughly both before use and between the applications, but be careful not to let air into the product. Apply first a thin coat of HELO AQUA 5 varnish by brush and let it dry for at least one hour. Sand the surface and remove all sanding dust carefully. Apply a second coat of varnish and let dry for about 3 hours before applying the third coat, if needed. Untreated wooden plank floors: Prime with 15 % diluted HELO AQUA 80 using brush or trowel. Intersand, if necessary, and finish with 2-3 coats of 10 % diluted HELO AQUA 5 using brush or trowel. Spread out the varnish in the direction of the pattern and the grain of the wood. Previously varnished plank floors: It is recommended to sand the surface to bare wood and follow the instructions for untreated plank floors. If the old varnish is in good condition HELO AQUA 5 can be applied after intersanding (sandpaper n:o 100-150) to the surface according to above mentioned instructions. In this case the adhesion needs to be tested on a small area.

Application conditions

During the application and drying period the temperature of the ambient air, the surface and the product shall be above +10°C and the relative air humidity below 80%.

Must not freeze.

Drying time – dry to use The surfaces can be taken into use 24 hours after application of the last coat. The varnish reaches its final hardness within 1 - 2 weeks. Hard abrasion is thus to be avoided during 2 weeks after the treatment.

Thinner Water.
Clean up Warm water and RENSA BRUSH brush cleaner. Wash the equipment immediately after use.
Colours Clear. Can be tinted to translucent shades.
