Paula Salastie is Young Board Professional of the year 2017

Paula Salastie, CEO and majority owner of Teknos Group, was awarded with the title Young Board Professional of the Year by Future Board Association on 15 November 2017.

In addition to Teknos Group board, Salastie is a board member of Tulikivi Corporation, DataCenter Finland Oy, Finnish Chemical Industry Federation (FCIF) and Chairman of the Board of Association of Finnish Paint Industry. Salastie is also a member of the Supervisory Board of Elo Mutual Pension Insurance Company and a delegation member of Finnish Family Business Network.

Salastie has continued on her father’s footsteps but wanted to step beyond the achieved level; actively aiming to grow Teknos from a national player to a global company. She has demonstrated exceptional courage and great determination to seek growth. The results are showing that the efforts made have been fruitful.

Salastie owns 95 per cent of the Teknos Group. The company operates in over 20 countries, and Salastie’s ambitious goal is to increase tenfold Teknos’ 300 million turnover during her leadership period.

Salastie persistently develops her skills and board working. She dares to question and drive changes. She also shares her strong substantial knowledge of finance, process industry and chemical industry in other companies’ boards’.

Young Board Professional of the Year was selected by jury which members were Valtteri Helenius, PWC, Anni Erkko, AlmaMedia, Perttu Purhonen, Nordea, Janne Rainvuori, Eversheds Sutherland, Maarit Aarni-Sirviö, DIF, Julianna Borsos, Bocap, Timo Aro and Pekka Puustinen, Ilmarinen and Lucas Geisler, Studentwork.

The purpose of the Young Board Professional Award is to promote of professional board work of young generation. The title can be awarded for exceptional efforts as a board member or remarkable work for enhancing young generation’s board work. The title has been awarded as of 2014.

Future Board Association is a network of young board members creating and sharing future board work knowledge. The purpose of the Future Board Association is to develop future skills to companies’ boards’. The network members are under the age 40 and they hold at least one board position in actively operating companies with minimum turnover of EUR 0,5 million. Currently there are nearly 100 members in the network.
