Darker colours can sometimes seem very flat, so consider using a higher sheen finish. Higher sheens will show imperfections so good preparation is essential to achieve the perfect paint finish, re-skimming the walls maybe required. If the walls are well prepared, you can get a deep, rich colour that will look fabulous!

If you have imperfect walls don’t despair you can still create the look without the expense of re-plastering, opt for a textured lining paper before painting, the texture adds interest and draws the eye away from any flaws in the wall whilst still achieving the desired look.
