Helo Aqua 40 – a clear winner from TeknosPro
TeknosPro has added Helo Aqua 40, a new waterborne semi-matt varnish, to its range of professional wood finishes. Ideal for timber floors, stairs and indoor furniture, Helo Aqua 40 is a semi-matt varnish that can be applied by brush, sponge or spray.
It has a coverage rate of 8-12m2/litre by brush or 12-15m2/litre when applied by sponge. TeknosPro recommends priming the surface with a solution of Helo Aqua diluted with 15% water. The polyurethane based varnish is hardwearing and therefore ideal for use on floors as well as stairs indoors.
Helo Aqua produces a clear finish but, may be tinted to give transparent colours if desired. It has good light resistance and will not yellow like other varnishes. Unlike solvent-based varnishes, Helo Aqua 40 is a low-odour water-based formulation producing very low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Maximum VOC is 140g/litre.
It is also quick drying. Fresh varnish is dust-free and overcoatable in less than three hours and the surface can be used normally 24 hours after application of the last coat. Full hardness is achieved within one to two weeks, and TeknosPro therefore recommends that hard abrasion be avoided for a fortnight after application.
Since Helo Aqua is water-based, brushes, sponges and spray equipment used to apply it are easily cleaned with detergent and water. Helo Aqua is supplied in 0.9 litre and 2.7 litre tins. Helo Aqua is part of a new range of paints and coatings launched under the new TeknosPro brand last year.
Building on Teknos’ established position as the leading supplier of specialist joinery coatings in the UK and Ireland, the TeknosPro range is designed for professional tradesmen. The range includes paints, stains and varnishes for internal walls and ceilings as well as metal and wood surfaces
