Innovation is at the heart of Teknos. The company was founded on innovation, and ever since the very beginning finding new solutions, technologies and ways of working has been at the centre of everything we do.
Innovations are also at the core of our strategy. Our ambitious goal is to be perceived as the most innovative partner in the coatings industry. For us, innovations are not only new products but also new services, new business areas, new technologies and new ways of working – everything that helps our customers succeed.
We are continuously thriving to find solutions for the everchanging needs of customers, partners and the environment. Functionality, sustainability, safety and health are key issues that we consider in all our actions and solutions.
FERREX Anticorrosive Paint was created back in 1949 just one year after the foundation of the company. The paint slows down the process of corrosion on surfaces, and it was a hit both in Finland and many other countries as it met the needs of industries in many ways. FERREX and especially its water-based version FERREX AQUA are still an important part of our product portfolio.
The curiosity, solution-based thinking and innovative approach which led to this success story have been an important part of Teknos' operations from the very beginning and will guide us into the future.
Plastic waste ending up in wrong places is a global concern. Consumer awareness and tightening regulations are steering the packaging world towards plastic-free or -reduced alternatives. Paper and paperboard used in food packaging or serving is traditionally coated with a thin film of plastic, but there is an option – water-based dispersions for preventing water or grease penetrating the paper. Teknos is developing these barrier coatings to offer the paper converting industry a plastic-reduced option. Dispersion coating aligns the packaging with recycling targets and, for example, EU legislation on single-use plastics.
Teknos is constantly seeking possibilities in utilising waste streams as raw material in our own production or finding use for our waste in other industries. In the best case, this can result in cheaper raw materials or reduction in waste handling costs in addition to making resources last longer.
Finding the balance in introducing “green” raw materials into our products and maintaining or improving their properties is a great challenge we are ready to face. We are aware that Teknos cannot compromise the promise to protect and prolong. Therefore, bio-based or renewable raw materials must serve another purpose than just making the product more environmentally friendly. We are sure we can make that happen by actively participating in the search for alternative raw materials, collaborating with bioproduct suppliers and doing intensive research and testing.
Obviously, we cannot nor want to do everything by ourselves, but partnerships and cooperation is crucial for our innovative development. We are seeking versatile partners to our innovation network to build new generation ideas to make the world last longer.
By combining our partners’ innovation and our existing product portfolio, network of raw materials and commercial channels, we can provide great benefits for both parties and come up with something truly unique to the market.
